A tummy tuck is not a substitute for exercise but is beneficial after considerable weight loss and pregnancy, where the skin may appear loose and has developed stretch marks. Even after frequent exercise, some women are unable to tighten the abdominal wall, therefore a flatter and smoother abdomen can be achieved with this procedure. The best results are obtained by already being the correct weight in proportion to height. During the operation, your abdominal wall may also be tightened to achieve a flatter stomach.

How our tummy tuck with VASER liposuction procedures works.
Abdominoplasty is carried out under general anaesthetic and involves being in the hospital for 1-2 nights. You are advised to cease taking the contraceptive pill and to stop smoking prior to surgery. There is some moderate pain and a scar left after the procedure, and a corset is usually required in the first 6 weeks. You will need a period of recuperation postoperatively and no sport can be undertaken for six weeks.

What are the benefits of combining VASER?

How do I know if I need VASER as well?
Whilst patients may require a tummy tuck to fix conditions such as diastasis recti, VASER is more of a cosmetic preference. Patients may desire a more toned abdomen or wish to have stubborn fat removed. Dr Hayek will be able to advise if you are suitable for VASER.
Is there any scarring after surgery?
As with all surgery, there is a risk of scarring, however, the incision is made in such a way that the region will coincide with the body curves and under the underwear. When applied by experienced hands, as in other aesthetic surgeries, the incisions will be hidden subtly during a tummy tuck. Scarring will take up to 6 months to heal. However, they will fade and become indistinguishable.
